Aventurine, a little landscape in green

Deep green and pale green mingle across this raw Aventurine, interrupted by dense white flecks, irregular cream-white bands and scattered reddish-brown patches. Its rough, granular surface rises into uneven ridges and angular ledges. Soft light catches the raised edges, while deep fissures hold darker shadows beneath an uneven, peaked top.

Aventurine’s name comes from an Italian expression meaning “by chance,” by way of the name given to glittering aventurine glass. That unexpected connection lends a playful note to its rugged character.

Seen as a miniature landscape, its bulky outline might become a green hillside cut by terraces and narrow ravines. The broad, rounded lower edge gives this imagined terrain a gentle boundary, with cream-white bands tracing winding paths through the green.
