Celestite’s Sheltered Blue
Pale blue and blue-grey bring a gentle brightness to this celestite, but its surface is full of contrasts. Closely packed angular crystals have flat faces that catch sharp white highlights, with translucent-looking areas beside dark recesses. Around the crystal-covered centre, whitish, grey and beige edges look rough and granular—a textured border to the glimmer within.
The uneven, broadly rounded outline gives the piece a rugged charm, neither smooth nor neatly symmetrical. It is easy to picture an imaginary cove in these colours, with little pools of starlight sheltered by a pale, craggy shore.
