Quartz’s Bright Faces and Warm Patches

Milky white is the brightest note in this quartz, with pale grey, cream and tan adding gentler shades. Orange-brown patches bring warm accents to the pale surfaces, while angular points and chunky, irregular outlines give the clusters a rugged character.

The texture offers plenty to explore: smooth-looking flat faces alternate with rough, densely packed, granular-looking areas. Bright white highlights catch on several faces, setting them apart from the darker recesses. Some projections appear translucent, a delicate contrast to the more solid-looking shapes around them.

It is easy to picture a little imagined mountain range in these uneven forms, its pale ridges broken by warm patches of colour. The eye follows each pointed rise, then finds another bright face just above a shadowed hollow.
