Rose Quartz’s Pale Pink Island

Soft pink and cloudy white give this rose quartz a gentle colour, while its rough, angular faces bring a more rugged character. Fine visible lines cross the uneven surface, and bright highlights catch on several planes. From a broad base, the outline rises toward a jagged peak.

Rose quartz beads from ancient Mesopotamia date to around 7000 BCE. It is a lovely glimpse of this crystal’s long human story, set against the immediate, tactile character of its rough faces.

Seen as a tiny imagined island, the peak could stand above a milky sea, with light flashing along its uneven shores. The softness lies in the colour rather than the contours—a pale pink landscape with edges that refuse to be smooth.
