Rose Quartz, a Landscape in Pink
Soft pink spreads across this rough rose quartz, interrupted by milky-white patches and areas of deeper colour. Its broad upper shape and angular ridges give it a sturdy, sculptural presence. Bright highlights catch on the uneven surfaces, contrasting with shaded areas.
Rose quartz beads from ancient Mesopotamia date to about 7000 BCE. There is something engaging about that contrast: the same crystal known in small bead form, here showing a chunky, irregular outline with an uneven lower edge.
In an imagined meadow, the white patches might become pale paths between rosy fields, with each ridge rising like a little hill. Fine crack-like lines and small depressions keep that landscape intricate—a broad sweep of pink threaded with details worth following.
