Selenite’s Pale Circle of Light
Creamy white and pale grey give this selenite candleholder a softly layered character. Brighter patches cross its upright cylindrical shape, while fine vertical striations catch highlights along the sides. Irregular, rough-looking areas interrupt those lines, giving the surface its own uneven rhythm.
At the top, a broad, flat ring surrounds the circular recess. The smoother-looking rim contrasts with the textured sides, and the shaded inner wall draws the eye inward. A simple outline holds plenty of small differences to explore.
Selenite takes its name from Selene, the Greek moon goddess, in reference to the pale, moon-like reflection it can show. Here, the top ring brings to mind the entrance to a tiny imagined cavern—a luminous threshold framing a pocket of shadow.
